Through New Eyes

It can be a nerve-wracking ordeal to join a new congregation for the first time. There are new people to meet, a fresh dynamic to become accustomed to, and in some cases, a shift in theology to learn.

While all these things do hold true in regard to Bridgeport United Church of Christ, the transition was an easy one. One can walk into the sanctuary and find themselves surrounded by warm, inviting people. It is encouraged to make a name tag upon entry, creating a feeling of nostalgia of sorts.

The services focus on a divine loving God, one that a person cannot be separated from. Here at Bridgeport, you will not find the damning liturgy you may find in other churches. The sermons are thought evoking, genuine and thorough. Rev. Tara Wilkins preaches from her pulpit with a sense of humor and balance.

The choir of Bridgeport is small but powerful, with hard-working and talented musicians that fill the sanctuary with beautiful melodies, accompanied by the piano, and sometimes by guest musicians that share their talents with our community.

Bridgeport United Church of Christ truly is welcoming of people from all walks of life. Whether one is accustomed to a strict environment, or a lax one, they can find a home in this church. It is truly an experience to be a part of this communities embrace.
