Bridgeport Kids

Bridgeport is a new church and we're doing church all kinds of differently - and we love our children.

Kids are always welcome in church and we make it as kid friendly as possible. There is a living room area in the sanctuary with comfortable chairs for parents and area rugs for the little ones to play around on. The congregation is pretty great about noisy babies and children, but when parents feel they need to leave the sanctuary, they can slip into the quiet room and listen through the speakers there.

We believe that our children's program should be about 3 basic things:

  1. Helping each child to develop their own relationship with God, one that matures with them as they grow.
  2. Teaching the Bible stories so the kids become Biblically literate.
  3. Having fun and being creative.

All chIldren stay in worship until after the children's time then they go to their Sunday School classes. We have four age levels of classes and we are using the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum, which is a wonderful ecumenical and very inclusive resource.

Childcare
We have a great group of parents who have created a wonderful nursery room for the little ones that is staffed on Sunday mornings from 9:00 on. Parents can take their children to the nursery anytime, but frequently wait until the big kids go to Sunday School to take their little ones downstairs.
